“ Pound steak is a very delicious restaurant in Richmond. The flat iron was very tender, curry and miso soup were amazing. Demi glace need a bit of work but overall, I recommend the restaurant. ”

“ I loveee the food! It’s so good! The Hamburg steak is so juicy and good. It fills your tummy really well so if you eat one of the 2 Hamburg steaks they provide you you’ll start to get full. Their ice cream is good as well. You get 3 flavours to pick from (I think I forgot). During lunch hour you get infinite free refills on curry, at night you get something else, but either way you get infinite free refills on miso soup, and it’s so good. I personally love this place and would recommend it to the world! I came in one day with my mom and barely anyone was there. I was so sad, this place needs way more attention, so pls come. ”

“ Food was good! Well worth the price, because of the quality of the meat. We were worried about portion wise, but it was good enough. Unlimited refills of self-serve soups: miso and a specialty soup, and there's option for toppings to add to the soup. Note the soup is very hot! Parking is ok. ”

“ I didn’t expect this place to be a Japanese style restaurant. I originally thought it was a steakhouse. Once inside, the decor had a nice Japanese vibe and felt quite welcoming. I ordered the flat iron steak. The portion wasn’t huge, but the quality of the meat was surprisingly good. Considering today’s inflation, getting a steak for under $40 in a restaurant is not bad at all. They also have a small self-serve bar with unlimited miso soup and pumpkin soup, which was a nice bonus. Given the name “Pound Steak,” it makes sense to stick with the steak here. I also tried the mushroom udon, but it wasn’t very impressive — a bit bland and lacking flavour. Overall, I’d come back again, but next time I’ll just stick to the steak. ”

“ The food was beautifully presented, but the flavours were pretty mid. I liked the steak out of everything I had. The hamburger steak was bland. I felt like the sauces couldn’t bring out the flavours of the meat. Service was nice and I liked the unlimited rice and miso bar. Overall, it was an OK experience, but not a place I would frequent. ”

“ My wife and I were looking for authentic japanese style steak house, and found this place. The place is decorated with manga goods, giving me family restaurant vibe. We had 2 people course meal. Appies were okay. The Hamachi crudo was fresh and tasty. The ebi tempura was little salty. The steak and sauce came with it was amazing. Hamberg w/ cheese was okay to me but my wife loved it over the steak. Also the deserts were great as well. Too bad we couldn't try the Matcha Tiramisu as I heard it is their signature menu. But the lemon cake and creme brulee was amazing. Lastly their self serve curry and miso soup bar was something I loved as well. Definitely willing to visit more often when we go Richmond ”

“ Usually flat iron wouldn't be my choice of steak, but if it's dry aged I would give a try. And it worked well! The steak doneness was nicely handled, although a little under seasoned. You are somewhat obligated to use the sauce because of that. The veggies (potatoes and carrots and broccoli) are also not seasoned. Kind of the standard procedure, but doesn't mean I need to like it. The restaurant offer limited rice with miso soup and curry sauce. I skipped the curry because I wanted to enjoy rice with steak flavor, but maybe I should have used the curry to dip the vegetables in. ”

“ Pond Steak Restaurant truly exceeded my expectations. The steak was incredibly tender and juicy — cooked perfectly with great flavor in every bite. I also loved the all-you-can-drink miso soup, a nice touch that you don’t often see elsewhere. The servers were friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience smooth and enjoyable. The restaurant’s Japanese anime-themed decor adds such a fun and unique atmosphere — it really makes the place stand out. For the quality of food and service you get, the pricing is very reasonable. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to again! ”
